3 years ago*, I started ICECREAMKWEEN because I quit one of my jobs. I don’t want to get into detail** but I was in a deep depression and after quitting Di Bruno Bros, I felt like creating something that would make me happy. Ice Cream always made me happy.

I’ve always loved ice cream but my love of pints skyrocketed over the years. I was grabbing unique flavors from Ben and Jerry’s weekly, like retired Boston Cream Pie and Holy Cannoli. (Bring them back!) I got exposed to many new ice creams like Gelato Fiasco, Steve’s Small Batch, Phin and Phebe’s and Little Baby’s. I started scouring grocery stores for new flavors and newer brands. Each city, I just wandered around the ice cream aisle looking for a new pint.

My love for finding the most unique ice creams is because of my grandma. Yup, she was the one who wasn’t into the mint chocolate chip or cookies and cream. She would get us the Neapolitan ice cream. From BREYERS. My brother would eat all the chocolate overnight, I would be stuck with some vanilla or the strawberry. My brother is still on my shit list for that. I cannot stand Breyer’s until this day. Just thinking about the quality grosses me out.

My favorite ice creams are simple but hang on the edge of different. The past few years, I’ve become obsessed with Zsa’s Black Magic, a coffee based ice cream with chocolate cake pieces. It seems so simple but the times I’ve had cake and ice cream over many birthdays but this is like a step up from it. My favorite ice creams brands have to be Ben and Jerrys, CoolHaus, and Zsa’s. B&J’s gave me the platform for unique ice cream but Little Baby’s went there when it came to making weird flavors. Would anyone want Ranch? Nothing makes me happier than finding a new flavor. I have my preferences for the perfect ice cream like no nuts, chocolate specks over chunk (I was not a fan of the 2017 Ben & Jerry flavors!), and I rarely like ice cream cones. Some of my favorites are some of the simplest flavors like Vanilla Caramel Fudge or Mint Chocolate Cookie but then you have Earl Grey Sriracha from Little Baby’s, Salt and Straw’s Turkey Ice Cream or CoolHaus’s Chicken and Waffles. Not to mention, the vegan ice cream game is insane and ya girl still haven’t had a bit of that So Delicious Oatmilk ice cream. I need!

I probably go to an ice cream shop 2 times a month, buy new pints about 1-2 times a week and constantly talk about new flavors. I search for news articles about ice cream throughout the country and look for new brands on Instacart. A lot of cash, calories, and time is dedicated to this. Sharing my ice cream knowledge is a highlight. My instagram account is for me and I love sharing what I have and what I find. Starting this account got me out of depression and that’s worth it.

Oh! For the love of Haagen-Dazs, do not tell me your favorite ice cream is vanilla. Vanilla*** is purely a base for great things.

A plug – follow me on the icecreamkween!

Okay, I don’t know how you did it, but I might end the non-beef beef I have with Little Baby’s weird flavors. I see them all over Philly and have refused to take that leap! Thanks for this post!

They usually have a few flavors that are weird, Pizza or Maryland BBQ, but then they have Vanilla Cardamom or Chocolate Salt Malt. The ice cream quality is so good! Thank you for reading!

I’m writing all of these names down and now to track them down! I think I tried CoolHaus a few years ago? It didn’t knock my socks off, but I may need to give them another try.
